A Message from our Director

By Jean Aggerbeck

In Thanksgiving

As we approach November, the month we celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you who serve as volunteers, donors, supporters, board members, staff, and prayer partners. In reaching out you make possible the good work being done at Reachout Pregnancy Center. You are making a difference in many lives!  From the many you serve, these clients express their thanksgiving:

“From the moment I first saw the fetus and heard the heartbeat of the baby, I made the choice to have the baby.  Thank you Reachout, for the gift of life.” Sonogram client

“Thank you very much for all the help you provided my daughter and myself.  We needed your help and you’ve all been around to provide the comfort and needed supplies for our children.”  Client

“Rachel’s Vineyard far exceeded my anticipations and leaves me humbled and blessed.”

“This was an amazing retreat.  I am so glad I ended up attending.  The exercises really opened up a path for self-forgiveness and healing. The Lord was truly working at this retreat.”

“Awesome.  It was awsome.”

“The retreat has opened my heart to experiencing God more deeply.”

Comments from those who attended Tucson’s  first Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat for healing after abortion.

In Thanksgiving for all the ways you reach out to so many,

Jean

Why a new Logo Well, more than a logo, we wanted to pull together all of Reachout’s various marketing efforts into one  cohesive look that appealed to our  client base, but also contained that cross-over appeal for possible donors.

After showing the first group of logos, we were not surprised that sentiment gravitated toward the heart.  But we were also looking for some insight that would take the development to the next stage, and were pleasantly surprised with the simplicity of it.  Show a woman.  A mother.  Of course!  We returned to the drawing board and played with several more concepts that involved a women’s  figure, always trying to incorporate the heart (but not always able to!).

In the end, one logo stood out.  A woman’s figure with the heart nestled right where it should be, presented in a way that is both inviting for clients and appealing for donors.  Friendly, contrasting colors invite the eye to see what is going on with this little picture, the artful implications reminiscent of fine works that our donors may have seen.

And Reachout’s name—clean, direct, right to the point.  No fancy font is needed here, it is a balancing act with the fanciful lines of the drawing and the intention is immediately clear.  We respectfully summit this logo as Reachout Pregnancy Center’s new look.  Warm and inviting, but also straight to the point.  Just like Reachout.

Volunteer Spotlight,

In Thanksgiving for Rita Bouchard who has faithfully served in the Reachout clothing bank for over 10 years!!!! On Thursdays you will find her joyfully serving Reachout clients by folding and sorting clothing, packaging wet wipes, and starting a load of laundry as she chats with her friends around the table in our workroom. She is often called the laundry lady, as she loves to wash clothes in the new washer and dryer.  We all enjoy hearing about her great family. We listen as she tells us the adventures of her son living in Africa.  We admire her devoted care of her husband during the last years of his life.  Rita, we are thankful for your life and service to Reachout.

   Annual Board Workshop Goals

This year at our annual Board Workshop it was decided that to continue with our Long Term Vision Plan we needed to work on education.  Our goal is to reach out with the pro-life message. With our newly remodeled facility we are better equipped to do this.  This is a huge undertaking and we need your help!  There are four target  areas listed below.  If you have a talent, desire, or calling to be part of this education effort, please call Reachout.   Maybe your calling would be to be a writer, trainer or leader in one of these areas.  We will begin with an in-service on Monday, November 3rd at 9:00.  We invite you to come and learn more about the ways you can help.

Our target audiences are:

  • Women already receiving our services

  • Teen Groups

  • Parish - Church leaders, school principals
